Newsletter,The NZBA publishes three issues a year of a magazine for members called At The Bar. The content includes articles of interest on legal, practice and lifestyle topics, information about the activities of the Association, and member benefit offers.

Contributions to At the Bar
Writing articles and commentary is a great way to raise your profile, draw attention to important cases, or highlight issues facing the legal profession. While we leave the choice of topic to you, please note that the Bar Association reserves the right to determine what content to include in each issue of At the Bar. Please review our guidelines for submission and publication below.
If you have something you would like to say or want to share thoughts on interesting cases or developments in the law and the profession, please get in contact.
Guidance for submitting articles:
- A one-page article should not exceed 600 words. Two-page articles are 1,200 words (two pages). Longer articles (1,500/1,800 words) are accepted subject to prior agreement.
- Authors are asked to send a high-resolution photograph of themselves and a short biography of no more than 50 words to appear at the foot of the article.
- Legal citations should follow the Law Style Guide. Please include neutral case citations. If a case is unreported, please provide the hearing date.
- Please do not include material that is subject to case reporting restrictions.
- We prefer an exclusive right to first publication unless otherwise agreed in advance.
- Unless otherwise agreed, copyright remains with the New Zealand Bar Association | Ngā Ahorangi Motuhake o te Ture and republication of the material will require permission.
- The New Zealand Bar Association | Ngā Ahorangi Motuhake o te Ture will publish the submitted material online and in hard copy. It may promote the submitted material via social media.
