Andrew Scott-Howman is a Wellington based barrister specialising in workplace investigations.
Andrew was an employment law partner at Bell Gully between 2003 and 2008, following which he was a partner in the Crown Solicitor’s Office in Wellington from 2009 to 2012. He went to the independent bar in February 2012.
In 2016 Andrew graduated from the Association of Workplace Investigators’ Training Instititute, and is a member of that specialist interest organisation. In the same year he co-authored the Thomson Reuter’s publication, “Workplace Bullying”, contributing an overview of the law relating to investigations in New Zealand.
Andrew has wide experience as an investigator in employment matters, including undertaking:
• a variety of disciplinary investigations for the New Zealand Police;
• enquiries into allegations of workplace bullying for a number of different public sector entities;
• investigations into sexual harassment allegations for a number of different entities;
• a major investigation into inappropriate conduct within a cultural institute;
• an investigation into a sexual misconduct allegation within an educational institute;
• investigations into an allegation of fraudulent conduct;
• investigation of protected disclosures;
• reviews of “workplace culture” for different entities; and
• workplace disciplinary investigations for local body entities.
Chambers Asia Pacific lists Andrew as a Band 1 Leading Individual and records his clients’ endorsement as “the best at what he does in the country”.
