Spousal Maintenance, Interim Maintenance and Interim Distribution of Relationship Property – The How To

Securing timely financial relief at the point of separation can be critical for clients navigating relationship breakdown. Yet applications for spousal maintenance, interim spousal maintenance, and interim distribution of relationship property often present both procedural and strategic challenges.

This Essentials Programme webinar brings together two experienced presenters, chaired by an expert practitioner, to provide practical, step‑by‑step guidance on how to approach these applications effectively. The focus is firmly on what to do, how to do it, and how to position your case for success.

This webinar provides practical guidance on spousal maintenance, interim spousal maintenance and interim distribution of relationship property. Led by experienced presenters and chaired by a senior practitioner, the session focuses on strategy, procedure and effective action – giving you the tools to make confident, well‑targeted interim applications. It is ideal for junior and intermediate practitioners, as well as those seeking a clear refresher on interim financial relief following separation.

The session will cover:

  • When and how to seek spousal maintenance and interim spousal maintenance
  • Strategic use of interim distribution of relationship property
  • Evidential and procedural considerations in urgent and early‑stage applications
  • Tactical decision‑making: choosing the right relief at the right time
  • Common pitfalls and how to avoid them
  • Practical tips to ensure applications are focused, proportionate and persuasive
