With legislation changes set to reshape environmental regulation, planning processes, and development pathways, legal practitioners need to understand what is changing, how the transition will occur, and the implications for clients.
Presented by Janette Campbell, Chair of the Government's Expert Advisory Group on resource management reform and one of New Zealand's leading resource management law specialists, alongside Aidan Cameron, barrister at Bankside Chambers with extensive experience in environmental and public law.
This practical session will provide first-hand insight into the reform, the objectives driving change, and the key issues lawyers should be considering as New Zealand moves towards a new resource management framework.

Janette Campbell
Janette is a leading New Zealand resource management lawyer with more than 30 years' experience. A qualified Independent Commissioner with a Chair’s endorsement, Janette is able to chair, sit on, and determine resource consent applications, or the content of planning documents, for councils. In 2024, she was appointed Chair of the Government's Expert Advisory Group on resource management reform, overseeing the development of recommendations that became the foundation for New Zealand's proposed replacement of the Resource Management Act framework.

Fluent in Te Reo Māori, Aidan brings a strategic, solutions-focused perspective to New Zealand's evolving resource management framework.
