This recorded webinar will focus on the essential, foundational concepts of Leading Evidence. It is designed to be a “how to” correctly prepare to lead your evidence and conduct it. The webinar will cover the key rules of evidence, including how to lay a proper foundation, avoid hearsay, and structure your evidence in chief to illicit relevant and reliable evidence. It is practically focused so it will contain an example of leading evidence from a criminal fact pattern. Attendees will be provided this in advance so you can track how the evidence is led, and ask questions about the approach taken by the presenters.
The webinar also delves into methods for refreshing a witnesses’ recollection, structuring your evidence in chief, signposting and redirecting the witness to illicit the evidence required. Attendees will gain insights into ensuring that they can lead evidence in an admissible and persuasive manner.
The webinar is aimed at Junior and Intermediate practitioners, as well as those unfamiliar with this area of practice but wishing to learn more about the fundamentals of leading evidence. It is also suitable for those looking for a refresher.
