Substantive Law, Technology,How to Work with Civil Electronic Casebooks in the Senior Courts | CPD 1.5 hrs
This 1.5 hour recorded webinar presented by Hon. Justice Forrie Miller, Josh McBride, Phillip Cornegé and Anja Borchardt outlines how to work with civil electronic casebooks (e-casebooks) in the senior courts and discusses the changes introduced by the updated Electronic Documents Protocol (EDP).
Following the 2018 review of the EDP, changes have been made to simplify the construction and use of e-casebooks. The protocol now uses a single electronic folder, although the table of contents is divided into volumes so that anyone using a paper version can print and bind the casebook. The numbering system is also new. With familiarity, users will be able to associate number series with document types, and automated hyperlinking should be more straightforward. It should also be easier to adapt a trial court bundle for appellate use.
The webinar will cover
- the Electronic Document Protocol
- preparing an e-casebook, including folder structures and hyperlinking
- presenting using the e-casebook
- some judicial observations
- frequently asked questions
