I am a full-time independent commercial arbitrator and construction adjudicator, with over 30 years of experience in commercial, construction, and property law.
To date, I've been appointed as arbitrator or adjudicator in over 75 arbitrations and construction adjudications, ranging in value from $50k to over $10m, spanning property, commercial leases (including rent reviews), commercial and residential construction, infrastructure, forestry, airports, contracts, and trusts.
My focus is on delivering fair, efficient, and commercially sound outcomes in complex disputes.
I hold conjoint BA/LLB degrees from the University of Canterbury (1993), and an LLM (Hons) from the University of Auckland (2001).
I was admitted as a Barrister & Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 1994, after graduating as the top student from the Institute of Professional Legal Studies.
I am a Fellow of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and the Australian Centre for Commercial Arbitration (ACICA). I am an arbitration and adjudication panel member of AMINZ, the NZDRC, the Building Disputes Tribunal, the NZ International Arbitration Centre, the ICC, and ACICA.
I've been recognised in the Doyles Guide as a leading construction and infrastructure barrister for nine consecutive years (2017–2025).
