Below is a list of current ceremonies that require KC attendance. Please click the registration link for those you wish to attend and enter the appropriate details. You do not need to log in to the NZBA system to register.
Attire for ceremonies is either:
- full ceremonial attire – which includes a wig, white court shirt, bands, black jacket and gown; or
- a gown over business clothing.
Please note: Wigs should not be worn unless full traditional attire is selected.
Members who are not attired in one of those ways may join the ceremony by sitting behind the bar, in the public gallery.
Swearing in Ceremony | Justice Paulsen | 25 November
Members are invited to attend the swearing in ceremony for Justice Owen Paulsen as a Judge of the High Court
This ceremony will be held on Tuesday 25 November at the Christchurch High Court at 2:15pm.
Swearing in Ceremony | Judge Arapere | 29 November
Members are invited to attend the swearing in ceremony for Judge Bernadette Arapere as a District Court Judge.
This ceremony will be held on Saturday 29 November at Poupatatē Marae at 10am. Attendees are requested to gather by 9:45am.
Call to the Inner Bar Ceremony | Wellington Silks | 4 December
Members are invited to attend the ceremony to call to the inner bar the following new silks:
- Cassandra Nicholson
- Matthew Smith
This ceremony will be held on Thursday 4 December at 4pm at the Old High Court Courtroom, Wellington, Entry via Stout Street
Please arrive 15 minutes early in order to be seated (and in call order if you are a KC) and ready for the ceremony to commence at 4pm.
Call to the Inner Bar Ceremony | Paul Keegan | 9 December
Members are invited to attend the ceremony to call to the inner bar the following new silk:

This ceremony will be held at New Plymouth High Court on Tuesday 9 December at 4pm
Please arrive 15 minutes early in order to be seated (and in call order if you are a KC) and ready for the ceremony to commence at 4pm.
Swearing in Ceremony | Judge Caldwell | 15 December
Members are invited to attend the swearing in ceremony for Judge David Caldwell as an Environment Court and District Court Judge.
This ceremony will be held on Monday 15 December at Christchurch Māori Land Court, Justice & Emergency Services Precinct, 20 Lichfield Street at 4pm.
Refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the Swearing In.

Members are invited to attend the swearing in ceremony for Hon Justice Michael Arthur as a Judge of the High Court.
This ceremony will be held on Wednesday 17 December at Auckland High Court at 4pm.

Members are invited to attend the swearing in ceremony for Hon Justice Amokura Kawharu as a Judge of the High Court.
This ceremony will be held on Monday 16 February 2026 at Auckland High Court at 4pm.
Valedictory Sitting | Hon Dame Susan Glazebrook | 20 February 2026
Members are invited to attend the Valedictory Sitting for The Hon Dame Susan Glazebrook DMNZ.
The valedictory sitting will be held at the Supreme Court on Friday 20 February 2026 at 4pm.
This sitting will be livestreamed; details of the livestream link will be available on the Courts of NZ website on the day. KCs attending are advised to be seated by 3:50pm.
