While practising in commercial law generally, he is particularly sought-after in the intellectual property and defamation fields. Julian is known for being unafraid to speak truth to power, and over the years has been a powerful voice for the profession.

Julian Miles KC
Julian Miles was a litigation partner with Bell Gully from 1969 to 1990, before he joined the independent bar. The following year he took silk, later, becoming President of the New Zealand Bar Association (1994 -1995) and President of the Medico-Legal Society (1987 – 1988).
Julian has a wide-ranging commercial and appellate practice with particular expertise in media, intellectual property law and employment law. He practises from Richmond Chambers in Auckland.
Garry Williams
Garry Williams is a highly experienced civil and commercial litigator with a focus on trial and appellate advocacy. He has particular expertise in intellectual property, media law, and trusts and estates litigation.
Garry started his career at Russell McVeagh in 1992. In 1997, he travelled to the UK where he worked for Nabarro Nathanson and then Olswang – two leading UK firms. In 2003 Garry returned to NZ and joined Bell Gully’s litigation department. Garry moved to the independent bar in 2014 and practises from Richmond Chambers in Auckland.
