About Me
Michael Webb is a senior commercial barrister providing independent advice and representation on commercial, financial market, governmental, insolvency, international, regulatory, and securities matters, including contentious and non-contentious business, dispute resolution and law reform.
Michael commenced practice at the independent Bar in 1995. Before then, for many years he had been a senior partner in a major New Zealand law firm.
Michael has been extensively involved in financial sector, commercial and regulatory issues throughout his career. He brings to those subjects experience and expertise as a lawyer, regulator and company director.
Michael is based in Auckland New Zealand , however his practice involves matters throughout New Zealand and internationally .

Prior appointments include:
- 2011 to 2016 - Board Member, Financial Markets Authority
- 2005 to 2009 - Managing Director, Financial Sector Development and Policy, Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority, where his focus was the development of the legal, regulatory and court regimes for the Qatar Financial Centre
- 2004-2005 - Chair of the Ministerial Task Force on Financial Intermediaries, the report of which was the basis of legislation now enacted by the New Zealand Parliament Non- executive director of various major companies in New Zealand and Australia
- 1992 to 2003 Member, and on various occasions Acting Chairman, of the New Zealand Securities Commission
- Co-Convenor, Joint Insolvency Committee of the New Zealand Institute of Charted Accountants and New Zealand Law Society
- Convenor, Commercial and Business Law Committee, New Zealand Law Society
