NZBA Annual Conference 2023 - Doing law differently (8 hrs CPD)
The New Zealand Bar Association | Ngā Ahorangi Motuhake o te Ture’s annual conference brings together members of the Bar Association to consider the significant issues facing the bar, the profession, and the justice system. This event is always popular among members and guest speakers.
Our theme for this year’s conference is “Doing Law Differently”. The theme is based on facing the future with confidence if we take up the challenge of practising in ways we may not have considered in the past. We will explore what lawyers and the profession will look like in the future and how we can model that future.
Some of the sessions planned include:
- Keynote – Nigel Hampton KC
- Doing evidence differently in both the civil and criminal arenas
- Junioring in a different way – presented by our junior committee
- A different Law Society – beyond the independent review report
- Accessing justice differently
- A different jurisdiction – meet three Judges from Afghanistan and learn about what happens when the rule of law is suddenly interrupted
- A different way to balance work and life
Our conference is extremely collegial, with opportunities to network and gather at social events on both conference days.
With conference sessions from 10am Friday and until midday Saturday.
On Saturday afternoon delegates are invited to take part in a range of optional activities. There are options for thrill-seekers who want to burn energy, as well as for those who just want to sit back and enjoy the scenery. These will be followed by a formal dinner in the evening.
Your conference registration ticket is all-inclusive. Partners are welcome to purchase tickets for the Friday social function, Saturday afternoon activities and the Saturday formal dinner.
