Enhancing Security for your Zoom meetings*
There has been a lot of media attention surrounding Zoom security issues that have come to light.
While Zoom address these issues, and we await some answers from them ourselves, there are a few things you can do to enhance security for your meetings.
NB: What follows is general information only. Please contact your IT provider for advice on security and Zoom video-conferencing.
For Scheduled meetings
When scheduling a meeting, you should ensure the following options are used;

Meeting Id:
- Generate Automatically – This will stop your meeting ID being repeated, and ensure people don’t join meetings they are not invited to.
Password:
- Require meeting password – this locks the meeting with a password. The password is automatically included in the invite to the meeting, so anyone with the Outlook appointment won’t need to enter it, but will be required for anyone wanting to join the meeting who did not receive the Outlook invite.
And under Advanced Options:
- Enable waiting room – Anyone joining the meeting will be placed in a holding space. You as the host will be notified with a popup that there is someone waiting to join the meeting

- You can then view the waiting room, and accept them into the meeting.
All the settings listed above will continue to apply to all your scheduled meetings after being set, so these only need to happen once.
For all meetings:
After all participants have joined the meeting, open the manage participants pane. Click ‘more’ then ‘lock meeting’; Doing this ensures no-one can join your meeting.
