Young Lawyers' Mooting Competition 2017 - Auckland Region
The New Zealand Law Society Auckland Branch and the New Zealand Bar Association | Ngā Ahorangi Motuhake o te Ture are pleased to present the Auckland region Young Lawyers' Mooting Competition 2017.
Entries have now closed for the competition, which is open to current and past professional legal studies trainees who are not yet admitted, and to lawyers with up to five years of post-qualification experience.
The competition is a rewarding and challenging opportunity for young lawyers to hone their advocacy skills, both in terms of written and oral advocacy, before senior members of the legal profession. It is a great chance to learn the craft of advocacy and develop familiarity with the court room.
This year the Young Lawyers' Mooting Competition is being held in Auckland, Waikato, Wellington, Canterbury and Otago. There will not be a national young lawyers mooting competition held in 2017.
The Auckland regional rounds will be held at the NZLS Auckland branch boardroom and function room with the final being held at the Auckland High Court.
Dates for the competition are as follows:
Preliminary rounds:
• 30 May 2017 and 31 May 2017 from 5:30pm
Semi-finals:
• 20 June 2017 from 5:30pm
Final:
• Week of 10 July 2017 from 5:30pm
Prizegiving will be held at Shortland Chambers.
